Hundreds of people turned out despite wet weather to watch a charity duck race at Salford Quays on Good Friday. The annual event saw yellow rubber ducks released into the water to raise funds for children’s healthcare.
Families from across Greater Manchester attended the 11th annual Easter duck race at Salford Watersports Centre on 3 April. The event featured entertainment including fairground rides, food stalls, live performances and a tombola alongside the main race.
Participants sponsored individual ducks for £2.50, each assigned a number for a chance to win prizes such as go karting sessions and shopping vouchers.
The race involved hundreds of rubber ducks released into the water, with the first to cross the finish line declared the winner.
Weather conditions were unsettled throughout the afternoon, with periods of rain, but attendance remained high as spectators gathered along the quayside.
Funds raised from the event will go to MedEquip4Kids, a charity that provides medical equipment for babies and children across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas.
