Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in hospital following a fall from a balcony at an address on Liverpool Street, Salford.
A man initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has now been arrested on suspicion of murder. A second man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers were called shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, 29th August, to reports that a man had fallen from a balcony at an address on Liverpool Street.
Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died in hospital on the evening of Saturday, 29th August.
Both men remain in police custody for questioning.
A Home Office post-mortem examination is due to take place today.
Chief Inspector Lee Gridley from GMP’s Salford district said: “Firstly, our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends as they grieve the death of their loved one.
“We now have two men in custody, and they are being questioned by detectives.
“The investigation is progressing at pace, and we have a team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
“We understand that incidents of this nature may cause concern within the community; however, we believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.

The matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to the parties having earlier contact with the police, as is standard with incidents of this nature.
