Salford skies to sparkle with free family fireworks weekend

Salford’s Bonfire Night celebrations are back with a bang as the city announces two nights of free firework displays and family fun this November.

Salford City Council has confirmed the return of its Firework Weekend, with events set to take place at Buile Hill Park on Saturday 1 November and Prince’s Park, Irlam on Sunday 2 November.

Both events are free to attend and will feature a full evening of entertainment for all ages, including multiple firework displays, funfair rides, food and drink stalls, and atmospheric autumn attractions.

Gates at Buile Hill Park open from 4pm on Saturday, with the evening featuring three different firework shows designed to suit all ages. The Little Sparks display starts at 5.30pm with low-noise fireworks aimed at younger children, followed by the Firecracker display at 6.30pm and the main event at 7.30pm. The park will also feature a Fire Walk, marshmallow toasting pits, light installations and a family-friendly funfair.

Sunday’s event at Prince’s Park starts from 5pm, with a traditional bonfire lighting at 6.30pm, and fireworks lighting up the sky at 5.30pm and again at 7.30pm.

Councillor Barbara Bentham, Salford’s Lead Member for Neighbourhoods, Environment and Community Safety, encouraged residents to make the most of the city’s public celebrations: “These events give families the chance to enjoy Bonfire Night together in a safe and welcoming environment. We want everyone to wrap up warm and join their neighbours in the heart of their community.”

Parking at Buile Hill Park will be available for £5 but must be pre-booked via the Visit Salford website. Residents are being encouraged to use public transport where possible, particularly as services may be affected by seasonal weather or congestion.

The council is promoting the events as a safer alternative to private firework displays at home, which can pose risks to children, pets and properties.
