Salford City Council has confirmed the death of Councillor David Lancaster MBE, describing him as a dedicated public servant whose contribution to the city spanned an extraordinary 60 years.
The announcement was made on the council’s official social media channels today. The authority said it was extremely saddened to hear of his passing.
As a mark of respect, the flag above the Civic Centre in Swinton is flying at half mast.
Councillor Lancaster was awarded an MBE in recognition of his longstanding service to public life. Over six decades, he played an active role in civic affairs in Salford, representing residents and contributing to the development of the city.
