Friends and neighbours in Salford have raised more than £2,000 to help the family of Harley McNulty, who was found dead at a relative’s home over the weekend.
A GoFundMe page was launched by Chanel Dillon, a close friend of Harley’s mum, to support the family with funeral costs. The fundraiser, which describes Harley as “the life and soul of the party”, has already received dozens of donations from people across the community.
The cause of Harley’s death has not yet been confirmed. He passed away on Saturday 10 January, aged 19.
In a heartfelt appeal, Chanel said: “The smile he had could light up any room. I cannot understand or even imagine how much pain his family is going through. Let’s make it as easy as it can be for them and help support them.”
The tribute describes Harley as a “funny, loving, mischievous and caring lad” who loved rapping and always knew how to make people laugh. He was remembered as an “amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend”.
A balloon and firework release was held in Salford on Saturday evening in Harley’s memory, attended by a large crowd of friends, family and well-wishers. The family have thanked everyone for the outpouring of support.
Chanel added: “Let’s continue and light the sky up for Harley.”
The fundraiser remains open and donations can be made at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/thrye-harley
