England Red Roses to play Australia in Salford as WXV series opens

England will begin their WXV Global Series campaign with a fixture in Salford this September. The match will be the only North West game in the series.

The Red Roses will face Australia at the CorpAcq Stadium in Salford on Saturday 12 September with a 3pm kick off, as part of a three match home schedule across England.

The fixture forms part of the WXV Global Series, which brings together 18 of the top national teams in women’s rugby. The top 12 sides will compete in a home and away touring format across an eight week period running from mid September to late October.

England will also host Canada at Sandy Park in Exeter on Saturday 19 September before facing New Zealand at Allianz Stadium in London on Saturday 26 September.

The Salford match has been arranged in partnership with Salford City Council and Manchester City Council, with organisers aiming to build on interest generated by the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025.

A spokesperson for Salford City Council said: “It’s fantastic to be welcoming the England Red Roses to Salford for the only Northwest fixture in this series. This match builds on the legacy created by the successful Rugby World Cup in 2025, which saw sold out fixtures hosted in the city, and provides the fans the chance to see the country’s sporting super stars perform.”

Red Roses and Sale Sharks hooker Amy Cokayne said: “Since moving to Sale, I’ve really seen how deeply rooted women’s rugby is in the community; they absolutely love it. Our Red Roses matches in the north always have an incredible atmosphere with a lively crowd, and it’s fantastic that the North West will get the chance to host and experience one of our games.”

Tickets will be released through the England Rugby website, with earlybird prices starting from £10 for adults at Sandy Park and £15 at the Salford and London venues. Junior tickets are priced at £5 across all matches.

Pre sale access will run through late March and early April, followed by general sale from mid April.
