A major international dance production blending Irish tradition with contemporary performance will arrive in Salford this February as part of its first UK tour.
Produced by Dance Consortium, the Olivier-nominated MÁM will take to the stage at The Lowry on 3 and 4 February 2026, bringing the work of acclaimed choreographer Michael Keegan-Dolan to audiences in Greater Manchester.
MÁM has been described as “80 minutes of ritualised ecstasy” by the Irish Times, and draws deep inspiration from the landscape and folklore of West Kerry, Ireland.
Twelve dancers from Irish company Teaċ Daṁsa will perform the piece, accompanied live on stage by virtuoso concertina player Cormac Begley and European contemporary classical collective s t a r g a z e.
Audiences can expect a unique fusion of Irish traditional music and theatrical contemporary movement in what has been called a “wildly whirling dervish” of a performance.
Following sold-out runs at Sadler’s Wells and festivals worldwide, this UK tour marks the first time Dance Consortium has toured an Irish company. MÁM has previously been nominated for an Olivier Award and is regarded as one of Keegan-Dolan’s most profound and daring choreographies to date.
The show is suitable for ages 10 and up, runs for 80 minutes without interval, and includes an audio described performance and touch tour on 3 February. A post-show discussion will also follow the opening night.
